Cannabis Science and Technology announces its most recent addition to the Editorial Advisory Board, Hannia Mendoza-Dickey, a renowned individual who has already made significant contributions to both the publication and the industry.

Hannia Mendoza-Dickey is a distinguished consultant, researcher, and the founder of Green Matter Consulting, LLC. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and a Master of Science in Chemistry from the University of Texas at El Paso. Her academic and professional journey is dedicated to advancing the science of cannabis cultivation and its applications in medicinal research.

During her academic tenure, Hannia developed innovative treatments for neurodegenerative diseases. She pioneered the use of recombinant DNA technologies to produce commercially viable quantities of the cannabichromenic acid (CBCA) synthase enzyme, which shows promising potential in treating neurodegenerative conditions and depression. (Mendoza-Dickey and Hildenbrand, unpublished). Her work also extended to synthesizing nanoparticles aimed at preventing the formation of toxic amyloid-forming proteins, a critical area in combating neurodegenerative disorders.

In the realm of cannabis research, she contributes to industry publications and educational institutions, particularly in exploration of the effects of light spectra on cannabis development. Her work highlights the crucial role of lighting in setting the potential for crop yield and phytochemical content development in indoor cultivation systems.

Hannia's current focus is cannabis and hemp analytics, particularly cannabinoid production, terpene profiles, and contaminant identification and remediation. She educates the public on the numerous benefits of cannabis and hemp, striving to bridge the gap between scientific research and public knowledge. Her published works make her a sought-after voice in the industry.

Her contributions to Cannabis Science and Technology since March 2023 include co-authoring many articles in the Cultivation Classroom column alongside Zacariah Hildenbrand, PhD, and Robert Manes, CEO and CTO of the publicly-traded Curtis Mathes Corporation.

In order of publication, these articles are: Epigenetics: Decoding the Effects of Environmental Factors in Cannabis Cultivation, Maximizing Cultivation Efficiency Through the Utilization of Genetic Technology, Shining a Light on Cannabis Photobiology, and Enhancing Anthocyanin Levels in Cannabis: Environmental Factors at Play.

She also lent her expertise in two Cannabis Voices interviews: Vapor Pressure Deficit: Highlighting the Need to Maximize Cannabis Crops and Intensity and Spectrum: The Role of Lighting in Vapor Pressure Deficit.

“Hannia has been such a great asset to the Cannabis Science and Technology brand over the last couple of years,” says Madeline Colli, Editor of Cannabis Science and Technology. “We are excited to welcome her to the Editorial Advisory Board."
